PHILIPPINES – Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has teamed up with Basa Bookstore to create a powerful campaign that aims to improve the quality of life of Filipino children through the power of mobility. This initiative called Lakbay-Kuwentuhan is a storytelling caravan that travels around the Philippines to deliver storybooks to children and promote the importance of education.
During the first leg of their Lakbay-Kuwentuhan caravan, Basa Bookstore toured different provinces using the All-New Toyota Lite Ace Panel Van to distribute locally published books to children. The campaign hopes to give away 5,000 books to public schools, reach 10,000 students, and facilitate 20 storytelling workshops for 1,000 public school teachers across the Philippines in 2023 alone.
Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic and Typhoon Ulysses, Basa Bookstore pushed through with its mission to bring Filipino stories written by Filipino authors for Filipino children to communities across the country. Thanks to Toyota’s support, Lakbay-Kuwentuhan managed to conduct three workshops and give six storytelling sessions in its last caravan, reaching 12 communities in six provinces and serving more than 3,000 students.
Toyota Lite Ace Panel Van played a crucial role in making this initiative a success. Equipped with the size and capacity to transfer items and goods with ease and speed, the Lite Ace Panel Van helped mobilize the Lakbay-Kuwentuhan caravan and deliver books to curious children in no time.
