Mislatel (Mindanao Islamic Telephone), a consortium led by businessman Dennis Uy, has emerged as the provisional New Major Player by the NTC. Going by the name Mislatel, the consortium is comprised of Udenna Corporation, Chelsea Holdings, and China Telecom.
The announcement was made by DICT (Department of ICT) on Wednesday following the disqualification of the two remaining bidders, PT&T (Philippine Telegraph and Telephone Corp) and LCS Group of Companies.

The latter, a consortium that includes TierOne Communications and Sear Telecom and led by Luis “Chavit” Singson, is considering legal remedies against Mislatel to “prevent them from allowing somebody else to use their franchise when their franchise is bound exclusively to Digiphil,” said Raoul Creencia, legal counsel of Sear Telecom.
Losing bidders PT&T and LCS Group may file a motion for reconsideration (MR) within three days to appeal the disqualification.
