UnionBank and Grab Philippines collaborate to improve driver disbursements
Grab Peers now have the digital edge with EON in their hands!
UnionBank, through EON, its award-winning neo banking platform, recently partnered with Grab Philippines, to give EON Grab cards to all its Grab Peers. Grab Peers will receive their incentives on their EON Grab cards, withdraw from any ATM here or even abroad, and conveniently pay for purchases at stores accepting Visa.
Grab Peers get to enjoy the cool innovations of EON, using the EON app to move money, pay bills, and buy airtime load, prepaid credits for AutoSweep and EasyTrip RFID, and a lot more.
To keep his money safe, a Grab Peer can lock his card using the EON app. When his card is locked, his account stays protected even if a thief tries to withdraw using a fake card. He will get an SMS and email that a transaction was attempted while his card is locked, alerting him that his card may have been compromised.
What’s more, a Grab Peer can even set his withdrawal limit anytime, anywhere through the EON app. He can lower his daily ATM withdrawal limit to PhP 2,000 on regular days or increase it all the way to PhP 50,000 for unexpected expenses just by selecting the change limit option.
“EON continues to be co-created by the e-gig community which includes, online freelancers, online sellers and now, the Grab Peers. It’s a privilege to partner with Grab to showcase the world class capabilities of EON’s neo banking platform,” said Senior Vice President Paolo Baltao, EON Banking Group Head.”
For UnionBank President and CEO Edwin Bautista, this is only the first among many other initiatives with Grab.
“We at UnionBank aim to provide financial services to the unbanked and underserved Filipinos so we will continue to revolutionize our products and services and remain open to powerful partners like Grab that will lead us to this objective. We are very excited to partner with Grab – a market leader in the region in the ride-hailing and logistics services – and tech up their accredited drivers,” Bautista said.
More benefits and opportunities for driver-partners
As Grab moves forward to become the everyday app for consumers, it also aims to empower the lives of 100 million micro-entrepreneurs and driver-partners. Our mission is to continue improving the lives of our partners and consumers. We are glad to have UnionBank onboard to bring more benefits and convenience to our hardworking driver-partners through technology,” said Brian Cu, Grab Philippines’ Country Head.
This partnership with UnionBank is the newest addition to Grab’s “Kita Ka Dito” program that aims to improve the overall welfare of driver-partners. This includes activities such as Grab Driver Academy,Misiskolar, Ka-Grab Rewards Program, Walang Luging ByaheSubsidy, fare rebates and other discounts and offers.
Grab continues to build its network of partners with new services that support consumers’ needs beyond ride-hailing. With the launch of GrabFood and GrabAssistant, Grab hopes to expand more livelihood opportunities for more driver-partners.
Meanwhile, in line with the launch of Grab and UnionBank’s partnership, the bank sponsored five financial literacy workshops for over 100,000 Grab drivers and their wives in Metro Manila and Cebu. The workshop seeks to empower the drivers on arriving at sound decisions on their finances.
