QUEZON CITY, Philippines (August 2026) — Getting into a premier student organization in UP Diliman just got clearer as the university’s largest engineering group prepares to welcome its next batch of leaders. The University of the Philippines Industrial Engineering Club, widely known as the UP IE Club, is hosting its Applicants’ Orientation 26A on Sept. 3, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the IE-ME Building, VLC 1.
The welcoming event introduces undergraduate students to the organization and guides them through the official application process.
A tradition of student leadership
Founded in 1967, the organization has grown into the largest student group within the UP College of Engineering, boasting over 350 active members and a network of more than 1,600 alumni. The group has consistently been recognized for its community service and academic excellence, earning the Engineering Organization Excellence Award five times and the prestigious Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations award from the National Youth Commission.
According to Cayla Marie Alvarillo, the vice president for membership, recruitment is more than just an introduction to the club. It is about creating a meaningful first experience that allows Pinoy students to discover their potential, connect with others, and cultivate values that will guide them throughout their college journey.
What to expect at the orientation
Attendees will receive a comprehensive overview of the expectations, activities, and milestones they will encounter during the application journey. The event is designed to foster a sense of belonging and excitement, preparing applicants for growth within the university community.
The orientation regularly draws a large crowd, with past iterations attracting more than 150 students eager to learn about the organization’s application process.
