Vice Ganda hits DFA Alimall for showing A Second Chance pirated movie

Popular comedian Vice Ganda expressed his disappointment  on the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for screening a pirated film in heir satellite office in Alimall.

The DFA Ali Mall branch reportedly played an illegal copy of the movie “A Second Chance” starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.

“This is DISGUSTING!!! Hoy DFA Ali Mall ang garapal nitong ahensya ng gobyerno na ito!!!” Vice Ganda tweeted after seeing the tweet of a Star Cinema’s executive.

The controversy started when  Star Cinema’s AdProm Manager Mico del Rosario posted in Twitter that DFA Alimall was showing a pirated copy of A Second Chance movie

“Dear DFA ALI MALL, bakit po kayo nagpapalabas ng pirated copy ng A Second Chance dyan? Blatant na po talaga ang paglabag sa batas? Umm.. Government agency po kayo?”

Vice Ganda’s prior tweet was succeeded by his joke that why Beauty and Bestie was not played. : “Langya magpalabas ba ng pirated na A Second Chance e meron namang pirated na Beauty and the Bestie!!! Chozzzz!”
A Second Chance is currently the highest grossing Filipino movie of all time for combined international and local box office sales while Beauty and the Bestie is the highest grossing Filipino film of all time by local box office sales.
Piracy affects pretty much every part of the entertainment industry from big corporations to independent creators. While pirating isn’t always immoral (say you already own the movie), it is illegal, and while many pirates buy more, that doesn’t mean they buy everything they pirate—and that hurts the industry in question, particularly when you’re talking about independent creators.
