The 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival committee did not specify the figures for each film to avoid influencing the decision of moviegoers but according to MMFF executives, Vice Ganda’s Beauty and the bestie now tops the box office sales.
In a report of TV Patrol, Beauty and the bestie now ranks 1st followed by My Bebe love which dominated the first day of MMFF showing. Meanwhile, Haunted Mansion and Walang Forever are in third and fourth places, respectively.
In the Instagram post of ABS-CBN reporter, Mario Dumaual captioned “The look of success, gratitude and humility: vice ganda celebrating his film “beauty and the bestie”, now the number 1 grossing film 41st metro manila filmfest per metro manila filmfest execs. “A billion thanks to all those who supported us! Panoorin po natin lahat ng naghirap sa filmfest!” @praybeytbenjamin #jadine #otwol @mr.cocomartin #beautyandthebestie”
In another Instagram post of Star Cinema PR Roxy Liquigan, she also announced that Derek Wenn V. Deramas film is now #1 after 10 days in cinemas.
Vice Ganda announced on his twitter account that his comedy film gross 300 million.
The eight official entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2015 have already earned a total of P915 million gross earnings for the past 10 days from December 25, 2015 to January 3.
According to the official MMFF page on Facebook, the highest earning films are (in no particular order): “My Bebe Love,” ‘Beauty and the Bestie,” “Haunted Mansion,” and “Walang Forever.”
The other entries this year are: “All You Need is Pag-ibig,” “Honor Thy Father,” “Buy Now, Die Later” and “Nilalang.”
On its first week, the MMFF 2015’s gross earnings have already reached P640 million.
Last year, MMFF earnings reached P1.014 billion on January 7, breaking previous records.
The 2015 MMFF is marred by controversies such as ticket-swapping allegations, disqualification of Honor Thy Father in Best Picture category and Maine Mendoza winning the Best Supporting actress.
