If there is one film you should not miss watching this Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) it is "Mary, Marry Me" starring real life sisterettes Toni and Alex Gonzaga.
Both are in showbiz but it is also not that easy doing a film project together since they have crazy schedules of their own. So thanks to this story concept by elder sis Toni which director RC delos Reyes helmed together with the blessing of Direk Paul Soriano who co-produced the film under his Ten17P movie outfit and wife Toni's very new TinCanP production.
In the recent premiere night of "Mary, Marry Me" I am grateful to have seen the movie ahead of December 25 opening day.
The film tells the story of Mary Anne (played by Alex) and Mary Jane (played by Toni) and how they end up with Pete (portrayed by hunky Sam Milby) as their common denominator. As what their publicity says, Pete is Mary Jane's ex-BF who ends up getting engaged and to be married to Mary Anne. What a small world indeed!
Alex and Toni are natural comedianne's themselves but when you add the zany and seasoned comedic acts of Bayani Agbayani, Melai Cantiveros and funny gal herself, Moi Bien, it becomes a crazier bunch very hard to contain.
I almost had a jaw-ache laughing at the humour side of the movie. Yes there are serious moments but the funnier side overtakes especially when the screen is both shared by Toni and Alex.
Expect to make a mark is that one scene they were trying this huge couple shirt on and they just kept on laughing and laughing all throughout and the camera never failed to capture that precious sister-bonding moment. That was priceless for me.
This official MMFF 2018 entry is also the shining moment of Alex who we all know is fond of making us laugh and to take things nice and easy. She was so relaxed in her role that the funny and comic scenes were effortless and the punch lines delivered well. I admire how Toni was able to keep up with her wacky sister especially when they have big group scenes with the rest of the cast. I am sure they have lots of blooper scenes!
The moments and scenes between Toni and Sam never fail to make you kilig and romantic since we are used to their love tandem in their previous movies together.
Since the film is all about a wedding, kudos to the production staff and costumer designer of the wedding gown worn by the sisters. Very sexy elegant and gorgeous!
And when it came down to the most dramatic confrontation scene between two sisters arguing over one man, I had to give it up hands down for both Toni and Alex who nailed that scene to the hilt! You really have to see and experience it to believe me.
Watch out for the final scene. You will regret it if you missed it!
"Mary, Marry Me" is your complete and total family film as what Toni and Alex claimed it to be. You will laugh, cry, and laugh all over and love your sisters even more . Simply good vibes this joyous Christmas Season.
Now showing in cinemas nationwide until January 7, 2019.
Bring along your family, relatives, and dabarkads and simply have total fun at the movies this MMFF 2018.
