The 2024 Xiaomi Pop Run was a blast! With around 2,000 runners flooding the SM Mall of Asia grounds last August 31st, it was a sea of energy and determination – from seasoned athletes to casual joggers like myself. The atmosphere was buzzing with friendly competition and a shared love for fitness.
The 10km race was a test of pure grit. Watching the pros run for the top spot was inspiring, and Mark Anthony Octimar definitely stole the show with his impressive 36:05 finish! Meanwhile, I opted for the 5km Fun Run, aiming to push myself but also enjoy the experience while shooting with my drone.
Speaking of enjoying the experience, a big shout-out to Zin Jason Cunan for leading the awesome warm-up session! Those pre-race stretches definitely helped me avoid any unnecessary aches.
But the real star of the show, for me at least, was the new Xiaomi Smart Band 9!
This band tracks EVERYTHING. My (admittedly short) 3-hour pre-run sleep got hilariously labeled a “nap” by the Mi Band. During the race, it tracked my path, calorie burn, and even my heart rate.
Plus, its small size is super convenient – I even saw some runners using a shoe clip which is an accessory to get even more detailed stats on their stride and foot strike.
After the run, my Mi Band awarded me a sleep score of 78! Apparently, that’s higher than most people in my age group. Guess all that fresh air and exercise did wonders (although maybe next time, I’ll aim for a bit more than a 3-hour power nap before a race!).
Overall, the 2024 Xiaomi Pop Run was an amazing experience that combined fitness, fun, and some seriously impressive tech. It was a great reminder that living an active life is within reach – and with the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 on your wrist, you can track your every step (or nap) along the way!
