Recently, a branch of Starbucks in Mandaluyong is in hot waters after a customer complained that she found a creepy dead mouse inside her Starbucks coffee.

The complainant told ABS-CBN News that she ordered coffee in the store’s Addition Hills branch in Mandaluyong City around 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 26. According to alias Jessa, who chose to hide her identity, she and her friends went to the coffee shop to chill out. After their meeting, they decided to go out and since she wasn’t able to finish drinking her coffee yet, she took it out. On her way home, Jessa strangely noticed a hard object inside the cup. To her curiosity, she opened it and stirred the coffee. She was shocked and almost pass out upon seeing a creepy lifeless mouse floating in her favorite drink.

“I didn’t know what to do when I saw it; I was trembling and vomiting,” she said in Filipino.

In a video released by ABS-CBN News, the woman was seen vomiting.

Jessa rushed to the Mandaluyong police station to blotter the incident after the branch manager denied that the dead rodent was part of the product they had served to her.

The manager insisted that their store is clean and they have a sanitary permit, according to one of Jessa’s friends.

Representatives of the city health and sanitation office who went there the following day for an ocular inspection reportedly said the branch showed complete permits but barred them from entering the kitchen in spite of their mission order.

In a statement, Starbucks Philippines vowed to conduct an internal probe on the allegation.

“At Starbucks, we want every customer who visits our stores to have a positive experience. The safety of our customers is of theutmost importance, and we take our obligation to provide safe products seriously. We are taking our customer’s concerns seriously and are actively investigating her claim.”

Is this a case of negligence on sanitation? Will you still buy a Starbucks coffee? Comment your thoughts.

  1. well, as an ex-barista at Philippines, i find this really hard to believe because, first "IF" if ever there is a little rodent (which is utterly impossible) it would be all grind, minced and chopped and whatnot because of the blender blending it all together. second-ly, Starbucks all-over-the-world is one of those company who has and still have a very strict policy, either the portions of your drink and the cleanliness of the front and the back of the house. I would not Give her the benefit of the doubt because this one is downright ridiculous. and I also hope that she know-well what she did, cause giving a statement like this and proven wrong could actually lead to a lawsuit, the company could sue her for Defamation, slander and libel; by definition publication of a false statement, whetherby paper, media or just by telling other people and punishable by jail time or settlement fee which is up to the company if they want to settle it in a peaceful way, and if they do i wish she save all the money she got from people who pays her to tell such story. 3. Any galing mo rin no????

  4. abs-cbn. background check that customer. does she have a history of cases, misdemeanors, swindles, etc. is she employed. is she having financial problems. interview her acquaintances, relatives. is she a thug. etc etc. lols

  7. Highly improbable not to mention the incident happened after she left Starbucks. Fishy and shady. People and their hairbrained money making schemes. Tsk tsk tsk. If you're going to do something iffy. think through it thoroughly dumbasses. ^_^

  8. I love starbucks drink not because of its price but because of its taste. Ate, 1st of all pag mageenglish ka wag kang feeling sosyal. nakakaurat ka magingles, nauutal ka pa. ano? kinakabahan? hahaha on the other hand. you can actually watch them how its done and if "favorite drink" mo nga talaga yan then you should know how barista do it. syempre mabblend and daga tapos magpupula ung kape mo kasi nga may dugo, alam mo un? red din ung dugo ng daga. hahaha 2nd. pag sinalin yan sa baso mo hindi yan basta sinalin lang, malamang nakatingin ung barista at malamang mapapansin nya just in case nakaiwas sa blade ung daga mo o kaya naging invisible sya no??. pangatlo, tiatakpan yan agad hindi nakatiwangwang so most probably ikaw ang naglagay. o friends mo o kaya magic. nakakatagos ung daga sa cup mo. ganooooon!!! hahaha dapat ang titile nito ang babaeng matindi ang pangangailangan daga ang naging solusyon! hahaha

  9. Sad to say I don't believe it. I love Starbucks so much. How can that be possible wherein it passed through a blender and I guess Starbucks is using a high quality blenders that even a hard ice can be crushed easily. That is so simple as that to understand. Her accusation is so insane but I praise her superb acting. But definitely this girl is just a BIG LIER. Starbucks don't mind her KSP Lang tong taong Ito

  11. Kalokohan. #wagnamanganyan

  12. khit ikaw nghahalo ng coffee or blended drinks obvious naman makikita mo yung daga. unless sinadya nung barista or what. but never it will be part of the coffee during production. only 2 conclussions: either the barista wanted it to happen, or the customer put the mouse on her cup by purpose.

  13. yeah not everyone but i think she's stupid enough not to know that theres something inside her drink. let's give her 10-15mins not to notice it and for sure hindi pa patay ung daga sa loob ng transparent cup niya diba

At tsaka frappuccino 'tong inorder. Ibig sabihin, nilagay sa blender 'to. Sigurado, durog 'yong daga if ever man.

  15. Well, when I see the video of the girl, Im not convince: 1) She's still vomiting when the news team arrived.. how long that would take? 2) Frapped coffee are only prepared when you order them. 3) Plastic cups are transparent, bar tender would notice that, and process will crush the mini mouse.. not as complete body parts as shown in the picture.

  16. I have watched on how the baristas handles their orders to be served and it is highly impossible (my opinion) that they would not noticed the rodent as the cup used was transparent. It is also highly impossible that the said customer didn't noticed that there is something in his drinks, if really there was. She already consumed half and still didn't noticed that there was something in her coffee while inside the store? Only noticed it on her way home?

  17. First when you order sa starbucks you can see how they make the coffee very transparent ang service nila. Second how come hindi mo nasalat agad ung rodent sa loob ng frappe mo ate hindi mo ba hinahalo? Third, bakit kung kelan nasa labas ka na eh saka ka nag claim na may daga dun sa loob ng kape mo (lets admit it the fact na everytime na nainom tayo ng frappe hinahalohalo naten to) hindi mo napansin un? Very vague ang accusation mo against sa starbucks. Gusto mo lang sigurong sumikat

  19. and reality check please! abs cbn still captured the vomiting scene of that girl where as, the rodent was discovered on her way home, texted her friends and went back to the store. so??? what now? abs cbn is already there as if they capture the discovery right away? my goodness!!!

  20. Almost all food estalishments have their plastic cups stacked and upsidedown inside the cup bin. The coffee dispenser have its filter. Theres no way the rodent could get in there unless the customer was pranked or just left the coffee unattended without its lid for a period of time. The complainant can be counter charged or sued for tainting the establishments reputation.
