VIRAL: This graduate proves that bullying can be an inspiration to achieve success

Yes bullies, you are his inspiration.

The Facebook post of Marion Agner, a recent graduate of De La Salle Lipa shared a heartwarming story about him living with Anhidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia, a rare disease that affects the normal development of skin, teeth, sweat glands among others. Because of his different physical appearance, he received a lot of judgment and criticisms and was even bullied.

“I can still recall when I was in high school, people would often look at me mockingly because of my physical appearance,” he said. “I always ask why did it have to be me to experience this kind of situation. I want to live a normal life just like others. I don’t want to be rejected and criticized because of how I look,” he said.

But this also pushed him to stand up. Thanks to his parents who supported him in all his decisions and his friends who accepted him no matter who he is.

“I would like to say thank you to my family for always being there. Mama and papa, thank you for all your sacrifices, understanding, and love. I know it has been challenging for us to make everything possible but you didn’t give up and gave me a chance to live and to realize how beautiful life is. Thank you for sending me to a prestigious school and 14 years of paying my tuition fees is not a joke.

To all of my friends and former classmates whom I’ve met since elementary until now, thank you for making me feel that I belong and I’m worthy. Thank you for the love that you are showing to me, you’ve been with me in my ups and downs. Thank you for always comforting and encouraging me. I won’t forget all of you.”

I don’t know how am I going to start this but I’m so thankful and blessed from what I’ve reached in my life. Thank you so much, God.

Yes, that’s me on both photos and I know you’re thinking that I look different. I was born with Anhidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia which means I don’t have sweat glands and even my physical appearance is affected but my mind and my heart are just the same as yours. I just learned how to fix myself when I was in 3rd year college and I’m not ashamed of myself because I know everyone deserves a little changed.

It has been a tough journey for me and finally, I made it. From all the judgments and rejections I received from others just because of I’m different. From all rumors I’ve heard about me and for those people who think I can’t make it, thank you for being my motivation. There were times that I would like to give up but I told myself that I need to keep on fighting because that’s the real meaning of life. You need to learn how to fight and stand on your own feet. Having this kind of condition is not a hindrance to achieve my goals in life.

I would like to say thank you to my family for always being there.

I won’t forget all of you.

And of course, to all of my teachers since elementary, high school, and my professors in college, thank you for being part of my journey. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and values that I could apply in daily life basis.

Animo La Salle!

P.S.
Para sa mga estudyanteng suko na sa acads, wag susuko. Kung pagod ka na, pahinga lang yan. Kung kinaya ko, mas kaya nyo din. Don’t be afraid to accept failures.Normal lang yan. Syempre estudyante ka. Just believe on yourself and keep on moving forward. Mahirap pero super worth it sa huli
