OPPO Reno 11 F 5G is the latest affordable mid-range offering from the Chinese smartphone maker. Historically, the F variants are a gateway to the main numbered series, and we expect nothing less from the Reno 11 F.

OPPO Reno11 5G review

For strategic reasons, OPPO decided to release the OPPO Reno11 Series a full month before the F variant. By now, we have already seen what the OPPO Reno11 5G can do. We head into this review carrying these expectations, hoping that the Reno 11 F 5G can deliver a taste of what the series can offer at a fraction of the cost.

Design and Display

The Reno 11 F has a sleek and modern design with flat edges that could be premium if your definition of premium were the iPhone. Aesthetically speaking, this phone is almost there, most noticeably due to almost non-existent chin and slim profile, even slimmer than the Reno11 at 7.5mm vs 7.9mm on the latter.

We have to give props to OPPO for making an effort to bring this level of engineering to the “entry level” line.

Our review unit came in Palm Green, which is the “black” equivalent of the series. It is understandably more subdued compared to Coral Purple or Ocean Blue, which is the “fun” colorway. Still, the rear panel manages to stay exciting thanks to the glittery finish that shimmers when it catches light source.

Speaking of light, it manages to stay lightweight by utilizing polycarbonate material at just 177 grams.

Its a solid and well-constructed phone too, officially boasting an IP65 (ingress protection) badge. While not as strong as IP68 found on flagships, it’s better than nothing: having an official dust and water resistance rating provides peace of mind against the elements.

On the front, the 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display helps the phone stand out with its punchy colors and brightness that goes all the way up to 1100 nits. High refresh rate support up to 120Hz works to its advantage when gaming, but it also makes the overall experience feel a lot smoother and cohesive, despite only having a mid-range chip.

Media viewing experience is also made more enjoyable, enhanced by the phone’s HDR10+ support. However, the single downward-firing mono speaker does leave a bit to be desired. It doesn’t come with an audio jack either, so having a Bluetooth headset is a must.

Performance and Software

Powering the Reno 11 F is MediaTek’s mid-range Dimensity 7050 chip along with 8GB RAM and 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage that is expandable via microSD. This allows the phone to handle day-to-day tasks, browsing, and content creation using software such as Adobe Lightroom and Capcut.

However, it can struggle under resource-intensive workloads such as 4K video editing.

The phone runs OPPO’s ColorOS 14 UX on top of Android 14. We love ColorOS and all its derivatives for the fact that it’s clean yet and intuitive while offering a good amount of customization. It does come with a bit of pre-installed bloatware that negatively impacts the overall experience.

There are some useful additional features like screen recording, RAM expansion, and O Relax ambient sounds, too.

Cameras

On paper, the triple rear camera setup looks promising with its high-resolution 64MP main shooter accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro sensor. In practice, the main camera performs very well in good lighting with sharp, vibrant shots. It even holds its own at night with good detail in dedicated Night Mode.

The 8MP ultrawide sensor provides extra field of view which can be handy, and the 2MP macro lets you get very close to small subjects. The resulting images are not as good as the main sensor though, and we are fast approacing the stage where in-sensor zoom produces better photos than the macro lens.

Around the front, the 32MP selfie camera captures a good amount of detail – just make sure you or your subject is well-lit.

Video recording tops out at 4K 30fps with decent stabilization and quality though again it’s best in well-lit scenes.

Battery Life and Charging

With its 5000mAh battery capacity and relatively efficient processor, battery life on the Reno 11 F is excellent. Even with heavy use, it can easily make it through a full day without issue. Light users may be able to push close to two days on a single charge.

When it does need a top-up, the phone’s 67W SuperVOOC fast charging can take the phone from zero to full in around 52 minutes.

Verdict

The OPPO Reno 11 F 5G delivers a well-rounded mid-range experience. The vibrant AMOLED display, decent cameras, and long battery life impress, offering a taste of what the OPPO Reno11 Series can offer.

In other regions, its retail price of PHP 18,999 may be seen as affordable, however, in the Philppines, the 15-20 thousand peso price range is highly competitive. It faces stiff competition from Xiaomi and Transsion brands, who offer similar performance at half the price.

As tech reviewers, we feel this price is a bit steep. The biggest advantages of the OPPO Reno 11 F 5G lie in its high quality components, software, and aftersales support.

If you can find the Reno 11 F 5G on sale for 15 thousand pesos or less, then go for it, but at its full retail price, there may be better options to consider.
