TECNO officially launched its latest flagship camera phone series, the CAMON 40, in the Philippines today, featuring popstar royalty Sarah Geronimo as its brand ambassador. The new phones promise Filipinos the ability to capture fleeting moments instantly with advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) features.
The lineup includes three models: the CAMON 40 Premier 5G, CAMON 40 Pro 5G, and the base CAMON 40. The CAMON 40 series uses AI extensively for its FlashSnap feature. It speeds up camera readiness and continuous shooting. AI also processes multiple frames to reduce noise and enhance detail. An AI algorithm called BestMoment analyzes motion to select the best shots automatically in dynamic situations.
The Premier 5G and Pro 5G models lead the pack. The CAMON 40 Premier 5G uses a 50 Megapixel Sony LYT-701 Ultra Night Camera designed to capture significantly more light than competitors. Its shutter speed is remarkably fast, capturing action quicker than a human blink. Beyond FlashSnap, the Premier 5G also includes a 50MP Ultra-wide Angle Camera, a 50MP Periscope Telephoto Camera, and a 50MP Autofocus Front Camera. It supports 4K 60fps Ultra Night Video. The entire series features new 50MP wide-angle cameras with eye-tracking for selfies. Notably, the CAMON 40 Pro 5G received a high camera score of 138 from DXOMARK, ranking it number one globally for phones under $600 in their testing and earning DXOMARK’s Smart Choice Label for 2025.
TECNO positions the CAMON 40 series as its most advanced AI smartphone line. Powered by MediaTek Dimensity processors, specifically the Dimensity 8350 Ultimate AI Processor in the Premier 5G model, the phones offer a significant boost in AI performance. TECNO AI introduces practical features like the world’s first phone with an AI-Powered 360° Call Assistant. This includes noise cancellation, real-time call translation, auto-answer, and call summary transcription.
AI extends to image creation and editing. The updated Universal Tone technology aims for more true-to-life skin tones in portraits. An AI Image Extender allows users to expand photos and restore details. Tools like AI Eraser 2.0, AIGC Portrait 2.0, AI Perfect Face, and AI Sharpness Plus are also included. AI efficiency tools feature AI Writing, Google-integrated Circle to Search, and AI Translate for real-time translation with Bluetooth headphones. The Ella AI Assistant helps with tasks like making calls and identifying images with minimal manual input.
Durability is another focus. The CAMON 40 Premier 5G and Pro 5G models have IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, even against hot water. The base CAMON 40 is IP66 certified for water splash resistance. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i provides screen protection across the Premier 5G, Pro 5G, and Pro models. The series has SGS 5-Star Certification for 360-degree drop resistance. The Premier 5G and Pro 5G also promise 72-month lag-free performance certified by TÜV Rheinland. The design retains the classic Side-axis look but adds a Swan-neck Curve. The Premier 5G features a Space Ring camera design.
For entertainment, the phones offer Ultra Bright AMOLED screens, Stereo Dual Speakers, and Dolby Atmos sound. They come with up to 256GB storage and 12GB RAM, plus long-lasting batteries with a 5-year durability promise. The CAMON 40 Premier 5G has a 5100mAh battery with 70W Ultra Charge support.

Filipinos interested in TECNO’s latest AI camera phones can purchase them starting April 24. Prices range from PhP 9,999 to PhP 21,999.
The CAMON 40 (PhP 9,999) and CAMON 40 Premier 5G (PhP 21,999) will be available on TikTok, Shopee, Lazada, and in retail stores from April 24. The CAMON 40 Pro 5G will be available online first, with offline retail availability after May 10.
