MANILA, Philippines (Jun 2025) – Smart Communications has overtaken its rivals to become the Philippines’ largest wireless broadband provider, capturing 44% of the market with over 430,000 subscribers nationwide in the first quarter of 2025.
The telecommunications giant now leads the wireless broadband race, edging out its closest competitor’s 42% market share in a significant shift within the country’s digital connectivity landscape.

The surge comes as Smart strategically targets Filipino families in fiber-limited areas through its newly launched Smart Home WiFi brand. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide across the archipelago, where traditional fiber connections remain spotty in many regions.
Smart’s flagship offering, the Smart 5G Max Turbo WiFi, delivers plug-and-play convenience for homes, dormitories, and small offices. The prepaid device connects up to 15 gadgets simultaneously, bringing high-speed internet to areas where fiber infrastructure hasn’t reached.
The 5G-powered service enables seamless video streaming, rapid file transfers, instant social media sharing, and lag-free mobile gaming. Smart continues expanding its 5G network nationwide as part of parent company PLDT Group’s infrastructure investment strategy.
Filipino households increasingly rely on wireless broadband as remote work, online education, and digital entertainment become essential daily activities. Smart’s market leadership positions the company to capitalize on this growing demand across the country’s 7,641 islands.
