This Manila photographer is capturing the city like never before using a phone camera

MANILA, Philippines (Mar 2026) — Jamir Lyndon Lumbao spends his weekdays in finance and his free time finding the extraordinary in ordinary Manila streets. His tool of choice lately is not a traditional camera — it is the vivo X300 Pro Photographer Kit.

Lumbao has been shooting street photography since 2014, developing a style built around light, shadows, reflections, and telephoto compositions that give everyday city scenes an abstract, almost surreal quality. When vivo handed him the X300 Pro, he put it through its paces in the kind of real-world, unpredictable conditions that street photography demands.

“My experience with the vivo X300 Pro Photographer Kit in real-world city shooting was excellent. It’s a clear upgrade from my X100, especially for capturing distant subjects, and the telephoto extender makes it incredibly easy to get sharp, detailed shots from far away,” he said.

What the kit actually does

The vivo X300 Pro is built around a 200MP ZEISS APO Telephoto Camera that earned a top score in DxOMark’s telephoto evaluation. On its own, it supports 85mm optical zoom. Paired with the vivo ZEISS 2.35x Telephoto Extender included in the Photographer Kit, that reach extends to a staggering 5,400mm — enough to isolate a subject from across a wide open space with clarity and depth.

The kit also includes the vivo PGYTECH Imaging Grip, which adds physical controls for exposure compensation, zoom, and video. For Lumbao, the grip transformed the shooting experience into something closer to using a dedicated camera.

“The grip feels incredibly comfortable and secure in hand, making long shooting sessions much easier, and the physical controls give you a more precise, camera-like feel that makes capturing moments quicker and more intuitive,” he said.

The shot that said it all

One moment stood out during Lumbao’s time with the X300 Pro. While shooting a sunset, he spotted a subject on the far side of the scene and had only seconds to reposition and frame the shot before the light changed.

“I quickly moved to the spot and carefully aligned the subject inside the sun. The light was changing fast, and I thought I might miss the moment since the sun was setting so quickly,” he recalled.

The telephoto extender gave him the reach he needed without sacrificing detail. “It gave me the reach and clarity I needed to capture this precise moment, turning it into a truly special and unforgettable image,” he added.

Pricing and availability

The vivo X300 Series is available at vivo concept stores nationwide and online via the vivo e-store, Lazada, and Shopee. Prices start at PHP 68,999.
