Pinoys are traveling more this Holy Week than ever — here’s where they’re going

MANILA, Philippines (Mar 2026) — Pinoys are not staying home this Holy Week. International travel bookings among Pinoy travelers surged 50% year-on-year for Holy Week 2026, according to data from Trip.com, while domestic bookings rose 25% over the same period.

Together, the numbers point to what is shaping up to be one of the busiest Holy Week travel seasons the country has seen.

Where Pinoys are flying to

Asian cities dominate the outbound list, driven by short flight times, accessible visa situations, and a mix of food, shopping, and cultural experiences that suit a week-long trip. Hong Kong tops the rankings, followed by Tokyo and Singapore. Bangkok and Taipei round out the top five, with Osaka, Seoul, Macau, Kuala Lumpur, and Hanoi filling out the rest of the top ten.

Domestic travel is holding strong

International travel may be surging, but local destinations are not being left behind. Manila leads domestic bookings, followed by Cebu, Palawan, Malay (Boracay), and Davao del Sur. Bohol, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Leyte, and Misamis Oriental complete the top ten.

Many travelers combine leisure with a homecoming, making Holy Week one of the most important periods for provincial tourism each year.

How Pinoys are planning and traveling

The average booking is made about 74 days before departure, suggesting travelers are planning earlier and more deliberately to lock in better deals on flights and hotels. April 3, Good Friday, is expected to be the busiest single travel day of the break.

Trip length averages about 9.57 days, nearly identical to the 10.03-day average from Holy Week 2025. Pinoys are using the extended break for genuine multi-day trips rather than quick weekend getaways.

One of the more notable findings in the data is the rise of independent travel. Nearly 70% of Holy Week bookings are made by solo travelers, pointing to a growing preference for flexible, self-directed itineraries over packaged group tours.

Women account for about 60% of Holy Week bookings, while travelers aged 35 to 49 make up the largest segment at 38%, followed by the 25 to 34 age group at 21% — a profile that suggests working professionals are the primary drivers of holiday travel demand.
