Starfield is finally on PS5, and it comes with its biggest update yet

MANILA, Philippines (April 2026) — After months of speculation, Starfield has finally landed on PlayStation 5, and it is not arriving quietly.

Alongside its PS5 debut on April 7, the space RPG just rolled out its biggest update since launch, adding a massive story expansion and a free overhaul that changes how players explore the universe.

For new players, this is easily the most complete version of the game yet. For returning players, there is now a lot more reason to jump back in.

PS5 players finally get their turn

Starfield is now playable on PlayStation 5, bringing its open-world space exploration to a whole new audience.

The game takes advantage of the console’s hardware, including adaptive triggers, the DualSense lightbar, and touchpad features for a more immersive experience. Those playing on PlayStation 5 Pro can also choose between performance and visual modes depending on whether they prefer smoother gameplay or sharper visuals.

With the launch, the base game is now priced at $49.99 (approx. PHP 2,800), making it more accessible for players who have been waiting on the sidelines.

A full-blown space war arrives with Terran Armada

The biggest addition is the Terran Armada DLC, a new story-driven expansion that introduces a fresh conflict across the Settled Systems.

Players will face off against powerful robotic forces while navigating new quests, locations, characters, and rewards. The expansion leans heavily into player choice, allowing them to influence how humanity’s future in space unfolds.

For those who already own the Premium Edition on Xbox or PC, the DLC comes at no extra cost.

Exploration just got a major upgrade

Even without the paid expansion, all players benefit from the Free Lanes update, a free content drop that significantly changes how the game feels.

The biggest shift is interplanetary travel within star systems. Instead of relying purely on fast travel, players can now cruise between planets in real time, encountering events, activities, and interactions along the way.

It adds a more lived-in feel to space travel, giving players more time with their crew and ship instead of jumping from point to point.

More systems, more variety, more to do

The update also packs in a wide range of new features aimed at deepening gameplay.

Players can discover new locations, including encounters, points of interest, and dungeons that increase exploration variety. A new resource called X-Tech allows for more advanced upgrades to weapons and ship modules.

Combat also gets tougher with new enemy modifiers, introducing stronger foes with abilities like extra shielding, elemental damage, and faster attacks.

On the ground, players can now use a new vehicle called the Moon Jumper, while outposts get meaningful upgrades such as shared storage across bases and even a new creature companion.

There are also new crew members to recruit, along with improvements to the New Game Plus system that allow players to carry select items into future runs.

A fresh start for Starfield

This update signals a major shift for the game as it continues to evolve beyond its original launch.

With a new platform, a major DLC, and sweeping gameplay improvements, Starfield is clearly positioning itself for a longer life as a live, expanding universe.

Starfield is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC, with the Free Lanes update live for all players and the Terran Armada DLC available now.
