MANILA, Philippines (Jul 2026): More than 12,000 tech enthusiasts and industry leaders recently proved that the era of simply explaining blockchain is over. The fourth edition of Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) 2026 at the SMX Convention Center Manila shifted the conversation from theory to actual deployment, showing how artificial intelligence and digital assets are already being used in Pinoy government, finance, and business.
Building trust through technology
The event kicked off with the Future of Trust forum, where government officials and private sector experts discussed how digital governance can shape the future of the country. Senator Bam Aquino highlighted the importance of legislation that lets emerging tech grow responsibly, specifically pointing to the proposed Citizen Access and Disclosure of Expenditures for National Accountability (CADENA) Act. This measure aims to use blockchain to make government budget transparency a permanent fixture.
Even the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is getting in on the action. MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III shared that the agency is studying blockchain applications for their operations, having already used artificial intelligence to improve traffic monitoring and frontline services.
The Philippines as a global leader
It is not just local leaders who are noticing the progress. Dr. Kamal Anand, CEO of Bigod Group, noted that the Philippines is far ahead on the blockchain adoption curve compared to its neighbors in Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, Michael Terpin, known as the Godfather of Crypto, pointed out that the country has been a leader in innovation for years, with social media and gaming platforms like Axie Infinity finding a massive home here.
More than just business
The week was not all about corporate meetings. The festival atmosphere included the launch of Viral PH for the creator economy and the ALT+TAB Gaming and Music Festival. There was even a Smash Pay Fight Night to cap off the festivities on June 20.
For PBW Co-Founder Chezka Gonzales, the goal remains to put Pinoy talent on the global stage. With startups connecting with investors and regulators exchanging ideas with industry pioneers, the event served as a platform where conversations turned into actual partnerships.
Philippine Blockchain Week 2026 was supported by various partners including Bigod Token, Binance by Blockshoals, Vaulnox, and Smashpay.
