MANILA, Philippines (Aug 2026) — Local small and medium enterprises looking to expand their reach down under can now slash their delivery times by a whole day. A new dedicated, non-stop freighter service introduced by Federal Express Corporation connects its Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou directly to Sydney, allowing shipments from the Philippines to arrive in as little as two business days.
Faster flights to Australia
The new flight route operates five times a week using Boeing 777 freighter aircraft. By bypassing extra stops, the direct route means Pinoy SMEs can see their high-value goods and heavy freight reach Australian customers much faster. This speedier turnaround helps local businesses cut down on inventory holding costs and get their products to market ahead of the competition.
Boosting regional trade
This expansion comes as regional trade continues to boom, coming off a double-digit revenue increase in 2025. As more companies adjust their supply chains to become more regional and resilient, direct air connections become vital. The new route joins other recent network updates in the region, including direct cargo flights between Guangzhou and Penang, extra weekly flights to Bangkok, and upgraded connections from Hanoi to South Korea.
According to Maribeth Espinosa, managing director of FedEx Philippines, the new service is a major step forward for local businesses aiming to grow in the Australian market. She noted that faster transit times allow exporters to react quickly to market demands.
