Virtual naval captains can now deploy late Cold War-era weaponry, including homing missiles and EMP waves, as a massive anniversary update rolls out. The hit naval battle multiplayer game World of Warships: Legends is celebrating seven years on the seas by introducing a modern combat experience and a wave of fresh rewards.
Welcome to the modern era
For a limited time, players can step away from historical vessels and steer warships inspired by the late Cold War. This new Modern Era mode features advanced technology like offensive cruise missiles, homing projectiles, defensive systems, and EMP waves. Pinoy gamers can test these armaments in both player-versus-player and player-versus-environment formats over the next two updates. Upgrading these modern ships unlocks various rewards, culminating in a Commonwealth Tier VI Premium light cruiser as the final prize.
Seven years of rewards
The anniversary festivities bring plenty of ways to secure rare loot. By participating in a daily calendar and a web-based treasure hunt, players can collect a temporary currency called Mariner’s Coins. These coins can be traded for two premium ships: the Soviet Tier V Premium battleship Novorossiysk and the Spanish Tier VIII Premium cruiser Almirante Oquendo.
Explorer’s chests are also returning, giving players a shot at birthday-themed rewards from previous years. Lucky drops might even yield exclusive golden vessels or the new German Legendary Tier battleship, the Mecklenburg.
A new five-week campaign
A fresh campaign called Noble Lombard is live, stretching across 100 milestones over five weeks. Players who hold an active Admiralty Backing and complete the campaign will claim the Italian Tier VIII Premium cruiser, Ferrante Gonzaga. This ship relies on high speeds, rapid-firing guns with semi-armor piercing shells, and heavy torpedoes to dominate the battlefield.
For players looking for raw power, the American Legendary Tier aircraft carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt is now available in the store’s Forge section. You can grind for the required Steel currency through new Ranked Seasons, which offer double the usual rewards, or by tackling endless trials in the main campaign.
