Getting emergency help just got a lot faster and easier for millions of Pinoys in Central Luzon following the launch of the new Unified 911 Region 3 Satellite Command Center.
Located at the former Bureau of Fire Protection Regional Office III in San Fernando, Pampanga, the new facility means emergency calls from the region will now be handled locally instead of being routed to Metro Manila. This localized setup helps dispatch teams respond quickly to common regional incidents like flooding, vehicular accidents, typhoons, and heat-related medical emergencies.
Real-time video and photo sharing
The satellite command center brings modern capabilities to emergency response. Powered by NGA 911 technology and PLDT communications infrastructure, the platform allows dispatchers to receive not just voice calls, but also text messages, photos, and live video feeds. This gives responders a clearer look at the situation before they even arrive on the scene.
No more language barriers
One of the biggest upgrades is the team of multilingual emergency telecommunicators. Call takers are fluent in Kapampangan, Ilokano, Pangasinense, English, and Filipino. Because the dispatchers know the local languages, landmarks, and communities, Pinoys can explain their emergencies without worrying about misunderstandings.
Fire Senior Inspector Glory Cajucom, chief of the Region 3 Satellite Command Center, explained that receiving accurate details right away allows them to deploy the nearest response team without confusion. Cajucom added that when callers feel understood, they provide complete information, which helps avoid misunderstandings about the location or type of emergency.
Part of a nationwide network
The facility is fully linked to the National Command Center in Metro Manila, the Regional Hub in Cebu, and neighboring regional centers. This setup ensures backup coordination during major disasters. The center is also equipped with computer-aided dispatch systems, dedicated communication lines, and backup power to keep operations running without interruption.
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the new facility brings emergency services closer to communities, noting that it reflects the government’s commitment to build a reliable public safety system for every Pinoy.
