One of the tallest players in NBA history is getting another chance. Tacko Fall, the 7-foot-6 center who became a cult favorite during his Boston years, has signed with the Philadelphia 76ers and is back in the league for the first time in four years.
A comeback four years in the making
The 76ers signed Fall, Jameer Nelson Jr. and Saint Thomas to Exhibit 10 training-camp contracts, the team announced on Tuesday. All three will join the Sixers’ camp in Camden, New Jersey, later this month, though an Exhibit 10 deal does not guarantee a roster spot.
Fall last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and most recently suited up for the Ningbo Rockets of the Chinese Basketball Association.
Why Sixers fans are intrigued
The reunion angle is hard to ignore: Fall was teammates with new Sixers star Jaylen Brown on the Boston Celtics from 2019 to 2021. The Senegalese big man arrives with a native of Senegal with 37 NBA games of experience, carrying career averages of 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds across the Celtics and Cavaliers.
Who else joined camp
Nelson Jr., the son of Sixers executive vice president Jameer Nelson Sr., averaged 18.9 points for the G League’s Stockton Kings last season, while Saint Thomas played for Philadelphia’s own G League affiliate. All three hold two-way eligibility if they impress during October’s training camp.
