She went mononymous overnight
Miley’s Instagram now reads simply Miley, no surname attached. The day before she posted a red and black filtered photo of herself with the caption “MILEY,” signaling the shift. Pop stars have a long history of dropping their full names, but for the daughter of country icon Billy Ray Cyrus, dropping “Cyrus” carries extra weight.
The Daily Beast framed the move as a rebuke of her father, but E! News notes the singer previously said her family had buried the hatchet. “Half of us weren’t speaking to each other at one point, and we cleaned it all up,” she told the Reclaiming podcast in June 2025.
New album “Bass Persuades” arrives Sept. 18
On Sept. 1, Miley announced her 10th studio album, titled “Bass Persuades,” which Los Angeles Times confirms drops Sept. 18. The album art shows her in dark makeup with a white rose covering her mouth. “Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on,” she wrote.

Her last album and the life change around it
