Ryu and Ken have stopped being friends. The new trailer for the live action Street Fighter movie just dropped, and it turns the franchise’s most storied rivalry into a grudge match, with a familiar E. Honda stealing scenes and a cloud of dark hadou hanging over the whole affair.
The trailer: Ryu versus Ken
The nearly three minute clip, teased by IGN as a conflict between the two leads, opens with the old sparring partners brawling in a dark alley. Ken complains that he spent years living in Ryu’s shadow, while Ryu charges up a purple fireball and warns that there is darkness growing inside him, a clear nod to the game’s dark hadou path. Ken, for his part, cannot even throw a single Hadouken in the privacy of his own apartment.
E. Honda steals it, and a tournament looms
Not everybody is brooding. E. Honda shows up in his bath house stage to face Ryu, pulling off both the Sumo Headbutt and the Hundred Hand Slap before Ryu sends him flying with a Tatsumaki. Underneath all the fighting runs the tournament plot, with M. Bison throwing the World Warrior tournament while quietly planning to drain the strongest fighters of their power.
The huge cast, fighter by fighter
This is the third live action take on Capcom’s fighting franchise, and it is packing the roster in. Noah Centineo leads as Ken Masters, opposite Andrew Koji as Ryu and Callina Liang as Chun-Li, whose grueling training for the role we covered earlier. Around that core sits a very long bench.

When it arrives
Street Fighter is set to hit theaters on October 16, 2026 through Paramount, including IMAX screenings. Given how deep the arcade classic runs in Filipino gaming culture, the reveal is getting local attention, with The Manila Times covering the trailer, and the film rides the same wave of video game adaptations heading to screens.
