MANILA, Philippines A self-taught dessert business owner named Cynthia Patos was recently named the next host of the Lifestyle Network after having won the channel’s newest kitchen reality show, “The Clash,” last Saturday (October 4).

Cynthia, a Venezuelan native who had lived in Canada before moving to the Philippines three years ago, is excited to begin putting together her very own show, with many new things that she wants to bring to the table. Television viewers will soon get to know her as they came to know and love “Curiosity Got the Chef’s” Chef Sharwin Tee, who had also launched his successful cooking show through the first clash talent search in 2010, called “Clash of the Toque-en Ones”

Cynthia is now thinking about how to take things notches higher for herself in preparation for the show. She aims to share her unique personality and palette with the Philippines very soon, believing that the fusion of her influence from abroad and the Philippines’ local flavors will add just the right twist to television. “I wanna try to push the tastebuds of Manila to see how far I can get them,” she said.

“The Clash” first runner-up Carmela Villegas also sees Cynthia’s Latina influence as one of her strongest points, admiring her daring flavor combinations.

The two battled it out in front of a live audience at The Clash Finals and Dessert Fair at the TriNoma Activity Center last Saturday (October 4), challenged with the task of making citrus meringue pies while faced with the additional pressure from co-hosting the event segment with “Listed” hosts Karen Pamintuan and Walter Demesa.

At the end of the competition, the Top 2’s scores were evaluated based from the taste and quality of their citrus meringue pies and their hosting performance. Cynthia was declared the winner by The Clash’s resident judges Chefs Jill Sandique and Buddy Trinidad, hosting mentor Sam Oh, Channel Head Tippy Benedito and FOOD magazine’s editor-in-chief Nana Ozaeta.

Find out how Cynthia’s journey to the top played out in Lifestyle Network’s newest kitchen reality show, “The Clash,” which will air on (airing schedule) on the Lifestyle Network.
