BPI clients have been asking the same question since Apple Pay went live in the Philippines this month: where is BPI? The country’s oldest bank was not part of the August launch lineup, and its cards still cannot be added to Apple Wallet today.
Where BPI stands right now
Apple Pay launched in the Philippines on August 3 with four issuers: Chinabank, GoTyme Bank, Metrobank, and UnionBank, per InsiderPH. BPI was not on the list, and there is no BPI option when you try to add a card in Apple Wallet.
The good news: more big banks are expected before the year ends. Rappler reports that major banks, BPI included, are lined up for support by Q4, and Visa has publicly said it is optimistic about Philippine adoption, per BusinessWorld.

Why BPI clients cannot just add the card
Apple Pay runs on tokenization: your real card number never touches the merchant, and the bank must provision a device-specific token before a card can be added. Until BPI switches that infrastructure on, a BPI card will simply be rejected by Apple Wallet, no workaround in sight.
What BPI clients can do while waiting

BPI is coming to Apple Pay, just not yet. The Q4 window is the deadline to watch, and when the switch flips, adding a card takes under a minute: open Apple Wallet, tap add, authenticate, done.
