Fortinet, a leader in cybersecurity, has revealed its 2025 Cyberthreat Predictions Report, detailing a surge in sophisticated, AI-driven attacks. The report highlights how cybercrime is evolving, with adversaries leveraging specialized tools and blending digital and physical threats to execute large-scale, impactful operations.
A key trend identified is the rise of Cybercrime-as-a-Service (CaaS). Attack groups are becoming more specialized, focusing on specific parts of the attack chain. Automated hacking tools, powered by AI, are expected to dominate underground marketplaces, enabling even novice attackers to deploy advanced cyber tactics.
Cloud vulnerabilities are another pressing concern, with cybercriminals targeting businesses’ increasingly complex cloud environments. Attackers are anticipated to exploit weaknesses in multi-cloud systems, creating a significant challenge for organizations.
Fortinet also predicts the integration of physical threats into cyber playbooks. This dangerous combination could lead to transnational crimes, including smuggling and human trafficking, conducted in collaboration with cybercrime groups.
