PHILIPPINES – Charice Pempengco sung his own rendition of “Let It Go” on ASAP 20 on Sunday February 8, much to the delight of the live audience and fans worldwide.

Present in the live audience was Tony Award Winner and “The Voice of The Philippines” judge Lea Salonga, who was caught clapping with delight during the opening moments.

Although the opening parts felt true to the original, Charice quickly changed pace and delivered an edgier, rock-inspired version that ended with Charice belting it out in her signature style.

Netizens pointed out that Charice still had what it takes to be a world class singer, despite the stigma surrounding the 22 year-old artist’s sexuality.

Charice Pempengco was born female on May 20, 1992. He came out as a lesbian during an interview with Boy Abunda on The Buzz on June 2, 2013. His “coming out” was met with much disappointment from family, fans, and friends.

A handful of netizens also commented that she outdid the originals – the movie version sung by by Tony Award Winner Idina Menzel and the pop version sung by Demi Lovato.

There are those who compared her to pop diva Sarah Geronimo’s rendition of “Let It Go”, saying her version was much better and more powerful, and that the two should have a showdown.
