QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Aug 2026) – Evidence-based solutions for national development take center stage as researchers, policy experts, and journalists gather in Quezon City to open a monthlong discussion on public policy.
The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) will formally open the 2026 Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) with a kick-off press conference and media awards ceremony on Sept. 1, 2026, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Novotel Manila Araneta City.
Unveiling key policy studies
The morning session features the presentation of the 2026 DPRM Discussion Paper. Members of the DPRM Scientific Committee and guest experts will join a press conference and open forum, giving media practitioners direct access to clarify research insights and policy implications affecting Pinoy communities.
PIDS will also launch the 2026 DPRM Calendar of Activities, which outlines the research events, policy forums, and discussions scheduled across September. Attendees will have dedicated time for media interviews and photo opportunities after the morning program.
Honoring top development reporting
The afternoon segment shifts focus to the Saliksik at Balita: PIDS 2026 Media Awards. The program recognizes media organizations and reporters who translate complex policy studies into clear stories for the public.
Selected journalists and media partners will receive certificates of appreciation and awards, followed by a networking session for media practitioners and policy researchers.
