After almost six years, ultra popular DRUM TAO troupe from Japan is back in Manila to once again WOW it’s Philippine audience.
The two-hour extravaganza features superhuman efforts by the highly disciplined crew of Japanese Taiko drummers, who spend eight months of the year touring the world, giving it their all in the 500 shows they perform in year after year.
After playing to audiences of more than 7 million, in 400 cities in 17 countries that include Switzerland, Denmark, Israel, USA, Australia, Spain, Belgium, UK and Germany, the critically-acclaimed group, will again explode onto the Manila stage with its eclectic mix of dance and martial arts as the dynamic and innovative Japanese performers beat their Wadaiko Drums.
In their recent Media Conference held at the East Atrium of Shangri-la Plaza Mall, three of its members Yoshi Suito, Shingo Kawahara and Daisuke Fumoto met with the press and shared what it is like to be with the 25 year old touring drum troupe.
Having been with Drum Tao since its founding in 1993, it is an honor meeting Yoshi Suito, one of the pioneer members.
"Before joining Drum Tao, I used to be a member of a rock band." Yoshi shared.
World-renowned Japan martial arts and drum-playing extraordinaires Drum Tao have an exciting stage show for 2018, with costumes created by fashion designer Junko Koshino.
Tomahawk-hairstyled Shingo Kawahara has been with Drum Tao for the past 17 years and he has never looked back. He enjoys performing with the other seasoned and newest members and they are like one big happy drumming and martial arts and samurai family performing in and out of homeland Japan.
And yes, he is the drummer who's famous well chiseled back is at the brochures and promotional posters...Woow!
One of the newest and freshest faces of Drum Tao is Daisuke Fumoto, who has been with the troupe for only three years as of date.
"Before joining Drum Tao, I was interested with movies and thought of becoming an actor. But after watching a performance by this group, I was hooked and auditioned and got in." shared Daisuke.

This will be my first time to watch a Drum Tao performance and I simply can't wait!
I asked if there will be a female drummer joining the guys and their Manager advised me to come and see the show on the 19th (opening night).
