MANILA, Philippines (Sep 2026) – A logistics industry veteran with nearly 20 years of global experience is returning to the country to steer local express delivery operations into its next phase of growth.
Garrick Thompson officially takes over as the managing director of FedEx Philippines, succeeding Maribeth Espinosa following her retirement. Espinosa guided the organization through a pivotal era of expansion and operational transformation.
A familiar leader returning to local trade
Thompson brings two decades of deep industry expertise back to the Philippines. Prior to this appointment, he spent more than five years heading operations as the managing director of FedEx Indonesia. His career also includes key leadership roles in sales and strategic functions across the local market, where he previously helped drive revenue growth and expand commercial operations.
In his new role, Thompson will lead a workforce of over 1,300 local employees. His priorities focus on driving operational performance, elevating customer experience, and helping Pinoy enterprises expand their reach into international markets through cross-border trade.
Strengthening regional hubs and trade links
Beyond managing day-to-day logistics operations, Thompson will oversee the Asia Pacific Trade Facilitation Center. The facility manages customs clearance, trade compliance, and critical cargo documentation across key global markets.
This leadership change comes as long-term investments in the country continue to scale up. Key developments include expanding the Clark facility, which serves as a major transshipment gateway supporting regional connectivity and broader Southeast Asian trade growth.
