CEBU, Philippines (Aug 2026): Child stunting among Pinoy kids under 5 years old recently rose to 25.3%, marking the first increase in nationwide childhood malnutrition rates since 2015.

To help tackle the problem, 60 employee volunteers from FedEx Philippines teamed up with Rise Against Hunger Philippines to package 10,000 fortified meals for underserved students.

Feeding Cordova public school students

The packed meals will provide continuous daily nutritional support to roughly 166 public school students in Cordova, Cebu, for at least 120 days.

The volunteer effort was organized as part of the annual FedEx Founder’s Week of Service Day of Service. The global initiative honors the legacy of founder Frederick W. Smith by encouraging team members to give back to local communities.

Building on ongoing community support

This initiative expands on past work between FedEx Philippines and Rise Against Hunger Philippines. Previous joint efforts delivered 3,600 fortified meals to Aeta communities in Pampanga.

By connecting corporate volunteer programs with local non-profit networks, the initiative aims to fight hunger directly in classrooms and support long-term child development.
