MANILA, Philippines (Jul 2026) — Designing slide decks and editing photos is about to get a lot easier as a new AI-powered tool called Google Pics is coming to Google Workspace next month.
Starting Aug. 18, 2026, the tech giant will automatically enable Google Pics for selected business and education tiers. This means if IT administrators want to keep the tool away from their users, they must manually disable it in their settings before the official rollout begins.
Which accounts are getting the update?
The new application will automatically appear for users under specific subscription plans. These include Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus. Users with Google Workspace AI Expanded Access and Google AI Pro for Education will also see the new feature.
As a core service, Google Pics falls under existing Workspace agreements. It comes with the same enterprise data protections and technical support as Gmail or Google Drive, keeping company data safe.
Higher AI limits for a limited time
Pinoy professionals who love using AI for quick slide presentations or graphics are in for a treat. Google is giving users higher access limits for the generative AI features within the app. This high-tier access will run at least through Feb. 28, 2027, after which the company may introduce usage caps.
The tool will also eventually integrate directly into other Workspace apps, such as Google Slides, making it easier to generate images on the fly.
How admins can opt out
For companies that are not quite ready to adopt AI image workflows, the service can be turned off easily. Administrators just need to log into the Google Admin console, navigate to Apps, select Drive and Docs, find Google Pics and uncheck the setting before the Aug. 18 rollout.
While Google Pics is included in these qualifying subscriptions at no additional cost, local pricing for these enterprise tiers remains unchanged.
