First it was a joke about other people’s cars, then it was his own luxury sedan half-submerged in floodwater. Kangkong Chips Original founder Josh Mojica is trending again, this time after his Lexus was caught in the rising floods along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City, and netizens are having a field day with the irony.
What happened on Araneta Avenue
The viral post, which spread quickly across Facebook and Threads, shows a dark grey Lexus stalled and partially submerged during heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon, the same Habagat flooding that has hit much of Luzon this month. Rescuers in orange vests can be seen wading through the water, helping push the car toward safer ground while a nearby taxi sits almost completely underwater.
The car carries the plate PAM 17, the same vehicle Mojica had shown off in earlier posts, including one where he warned motorcycle owners still paying off installments: “Labas mga motor na hulugan. Ingat kayo dito baka magayat paa niyo.” The comment, which translates roughly to “get your installment motorcycles out, you might slip here,” did not age well once his own car ended up in the flood.
The debunk: the car is no longer his
Mojica responded by laughing off the viral post. He admitted he may have made the statement, but clarified that the luxury car featured in the flood footage is no longer his, and that the post with his comment dates back a few years. In other words, the timing that made the story so delicious online is not quite what it seems.
That has not stopped the internet from enjoying the moment, with comments ranging from playful mockery to “Grabe ka Josh,” the phrase overlaid on the original clip.

The 22-year-old from Cavite is one of the country’s most famous young entrepreneurs. He started Kangkong Chips Original in 2021 with just ₱3,000 in capital, using his aunt’s recipe and his grandfather’s advice. Within six months the business was earning over ₱100,000 a month, and within a year he hit his first million. By 2022 he had built a two-story factory with around 100 employees and six chip flavors selling to local and international customers.
Mojica is no stranger to controversy either. In August 2025, a viral post declaring he was a “billionaire at 21” drew a response from former Comelec commissioner Rowena Guanzon, who publicly asked the Bureau of Internal Revenue to check his taxes. He denied the claim, saying the post was not from his official account and that becoming a billionaire is a dream he is proud to share, not a boast.
