DALLAS, Texas (Jun 2026) — Six billion fans are expected to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026, and the technology making sure none of them miss a moment runs on Lenovo.
The company announced it is serving as FIFA’s Official Technology Partner for the tournament, deploying an AI-powered infrastructure platform designed to handle one of the most demanding broadcast and operations environments ever attempted in live sports. The 2026 edition is the biggest World Cup in history — 48 teams, three host countries, and a fan base that spans virtually every corner of the planet.
At the center of it all is an International Broadcast Center in Dallas, where Lenovo ThinkSystem SR635 V3 servers ingest, process, and distribute live match footage across ten channels to more than 1,000 screens inside FIFA venues. The result is IPTV delivery with latency under five seconds, bringing near real-time match access to everyone inside the event ecosystem — from fan zones to media tribunes to VIP areas.
Mission control in Miami
Beyond broadcast, Lenovo is powering FIFA’s Technology Command Center in Miami and the Tournament Operation Center for the full duration of the competition. These facilities serve as the central nerve center for the entire event, where engineers and FIFA management monitor and manage every piece of technology across the tournament footprint in near real-time.
More than 17,000 Lenovo and Motorola devices, plus over 200 engineers, are being deployed across venues and Team Base Camp training sites to keep everything running.
“Lenovo’s AI infrastructure is redefining the FIFA World Cup experience, delivering near real-time highlights, multi-angle views, and insights at unprecedented global scale,” said Ashley Gorakhpurwalla, President of Infrastructure Solutions at Lenovo. “Together with FIFA, we are running AI under the world’s most demanding conditions.”
AI that helps fans understand the game
One of the more visible innovations fans will see this tournament: AI-generated 3D player avatars built using generative AI and real-world player data. These avatars are designed to provide clearer real-time visualization of offside calls and other complex decisions — both for viewers at home and as a support tool for match officials on the field.
Inside venues, Lenovo is also deploying AI-driven navigation systems to ease crowd movement, stabilized “Referee Views” that cut motion distortion by up to 50%, and holographic and immersive digital experiences across all three host countries.
Analytics for all 48 teams
Perhaps the most significant play is what Lenovo is doing behind the scenes for the competing teams themselves. Through the FIFA AI Pro platform, built on Lenovo’s AI Factory, all 48 teams will have access to an AI-powered knowledge assistant that delivers tactical insights to coaches, players, and analysts. The idea is to level the playing field by giving every team, regardless of resources, access to elite-level analytics.
Special edition devices
For fans who want a tangible piece of the tournament, Lenovo has also launched a lineup of FIFA World Cup 2026 Special Edition devices, including the motorola razr FIFA World Cup 26th Edition, ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 and 14, ThinkPad X9-14 Gen 1, Yoga Slim 7i ultra Aura Edition, Idea Tab, and the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i. All carry exclusive FIFA World Cup 2026 branding and packaging.
