Pasig, Philippines (June 2026) — More Pinoys are recognizing the importance of mental health, but stigma, cost, and limited access to professional care continue to prevent many from seeking help. A local telehealth platform hopes to change that by bringing mental health services directly to smartphones.
According to the International Labor Organization, around 75% of Filipinos believe that revealing a mental health condition could hurt their career prospects, the highest rate among ASEAN countries. Combined with cultural factors such as hiya and pakikisama, many continue to struggle in silence instead of asking for help.
mWell, the digital healthcare platform of Metro Pacific Health Tech Corporation, is expanding its mental health services to make professional support more accessible and affordable for more Filipinos.
Starting with a simple mental health check
The platform offers free tools designed to help users privately assess their well-being before deciding whether they need professional support.
Among these is the Mind Health Score, which uses the World Health Organization’s WHO-5 Well-Being Index to help users evaluate their emotional wellness. The app also includes self-guided modules based on evidence-backed techniques that focus on stress management, resilience, and emotional well-being.
Chaye Cabal-Revilla, president and CEO of mWell and chief finance, risk, and sustainability officer of MPIC, said caring for mental health should be treated the same way as physical health.
She said many Filipinos still hesitate to seek help because of stigma, financial concerns, or simply not knowing where to begin. She added that the company wants every Filipino to know support is available whenever they are ready to take that first step.
Professional support starts at PHP 499
For users who want to speak with a professional, the platform offers several options.
The mWell Mind Healthsavers Plan includes one 30-minute video consultation with a certified Mind Health Coach that can be used within 30 days of purchase.
Users who require more specialized care can also book scheduled or on-demand consultations with certified coaches, psychologists, or psychiatrists.
Consultations start at PHP 499 (approximately USD 8.50), making professional mental health support more affordable than many traditional in-person consultations.
Partnership expands access to specialists
To strengthen its services, mWell has partnered with MindNation, a global mental health and well-being organization that works with businesses, schools, and government institutions.
The collaboration expands the platform’s network of certified mental health professionals while providing culturally relevant care for Filipino users.
Eizaleen Fusingan-Lappay, Ph.Dc., LPT, RPm, RPsy, chief well-being officer of MindNation, said both organizations share the goal of making mental health support something every person can access rather than a privilege available only to a few.
Recognized on the global stage
The company’s broader digital healthcare efforts have also received international recognition.
Earlier this year, mWell received the Global Mobile Award for Best Mobile Innovation Supporting Emergency or Humanitarian Situations during Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, Spain. It marked the company’s second GLOMO Award after previously winning Best Mobile Innovation for Digital Life in 2023.
The app is available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
