Pokemon’s biggest competitive event is about to make its first-ever stop in Southeast Asia: the 2027 Pokemon World Championships are officially heading to Singapore. The announcement landed at the closing ceremony of this year’s Worlds in San Francisco, and it hands Philippine fans the nearest host city the tournament has ever had.
Singapore wins the 2027 Worlds
The Pokemon Company International president Tsunekazu Ishihara revealed the host city as the 2026 World Championships wrapped up in San Francisco, where the tournament ran from August 28 to 30 at the Moscone Center and Chase Center. The 2027 event is scheduled for August 13 to 15, 2027, making Singapore only the fourth city outside the United States to host Worlds.

Why this matters to Philippine fans
Singapore is a short direct flight from Manila, which makes the 2027 Worlds the most accessible host for Filipino players and spectators in years. A Filipino squad, Nemesis, competed at the 2026 Worlds in San Francisco, underscoring the local competitive scene, while the franchise’s popularity in the country has powered Pokemon GO fever across the Philippines. Expect more venue, ticketing, and qualifying details from The Pokemon Company in the months before the August 2027 tournament.
