Serena and Venus Williams are teaming up in New York again. The Williams sisters received a wild card into the women’s doubles at the 2026 US Open, ending a four-year wait for their next Flushing Meadows pairing.
A wild card that ends a New York drought
The US Open announced the doubles wild card on Wednesday, August 26. It is the sisters’ first time playing doubles together in New York since 2022, when they lost in the first round. Earlier this month they reunited at the Cincinnati Open, though that run also ended in the opening round.
A doubles resume no one else can match
Across nine US Open appearances together, the Williams sisters own a 27-7 record. They won the doubles title in 1999 and again in 2009, and together they hold 14 Grand Slam doubles crowns and three Olympic women’s doubles gold medals.

Serena’s comeback summer
Serena, 44, returned to tennis this summer after a four-year absence and played mixed doubles with Carlos Alcaraz on August 25, winning one match before falling in the quarterfinals. Venus, 46, is entered in the women’s singles draw.
The Filipino connection to watch
For Filipino fans, the sisters’ run carries a homegrown thread. Alex Eala opens her US Open campaign against Mary Stoiana, and she has said doubles with Venus taught her the champion’s mentality. The women’s doubles event runs September 3 to 11, right alongside Eala’s singles charge in Flushing Meadows.
