Classes are suspended in several towns across Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Benguet and Pangasinan on Wednesday, September 9 as the southwest monsoon, or habagat, keeps bringing heavy rain and flooding to the region. Here is the running list of areas that have suspended classes.

Local governments have shifted affected schools to alternative learning modes because of the weather. The confirmed suspensions for Wednesday are:

Why classes are suspended
The heavy rains and flooding brought by the Southwest Monsoon have made travel and school grounds unsafe in these areas, the latest in a monsoon season that has already forced class suspensions across the country. The flooding follows days of intense rain across Central Luzon that earlier forced DPWH to relieve two Pampanga district engineers over a flooded open manhole where a resident drowned.
Where classes continue
Public schools in affected towns that are not on the list keep their normal schedule, and it is left to administrators of private schools whether to suspend. This list may grow through the day as more local governments decide, so check back for updates.
