LeBron XXII: Nike’s new tech brings control and agility on the court

LeBron James continues to push boundaries with the release of his latest signature shoe, the LeBron XXII. Designed to enhance performance on the court, this new model prioritizes control, stability, and comfort, aiming to meet the needs of athletes who thrive under pressure—just like LeBron himself.

According to Ross Klein, Senior Director of Men’s Basketball Footwear Product Design at Nike, the LeBron XXII was developed to match the NBA star’s powerful, yet agile playing style. “We focused on delivering maximum lockdown control while maintaining the speed and lightweight feel LeBron loves,” Klein explains.

One of the standout features of the LeBron XXII is its new midfoot saddle construction, which offers enhanced control and stability during explosive movements. This, combined with Cushlon 2.0 foam throughout the midsole, provides comfort with every step. Zoom technology in both the heel and forefoot offers responsive propulsion and soft landings.

The shoe’s low-top design allows for greater flexibility, giving athletes the freedom to move naturally on the court. Its outsole, engineered for traction, supports key movements like jab steps and pivots—movements that define LeBron’s dynamic playing style.

Blending performance with style, the LeBron XXII features premium materials and refined detailing that make it versatile enough for both the court and off-court settings. Bold colorways, inspired by LeBron’s personal taste, and his signature embedded in the heel add a personal touch to the design.

The LeBron XXII will be available in both adult and kids’ sizes starting November 1 at Nike.com and select retailers.
