Over 4,000 7-Eleven stores are switching off their lights this Saturday for Earth Hour

MANILA, Philippines (Mar 2026) — This Saturday night, one of the most recognizable storefronts in the country is going dark — for a good reason.

Over 4,000 7-Eleven stores nationwide will turn off non-essential lights and dim their iconic signage from 8:30 to 9:30 PM on March 28, 2026, as part of the global Earth Hour movement. The annual event calls on individuals, businesses, and communities to switch off lights for one hour as a symbolic show of commitment to addressing climate change.

For 7-Eleven Philippines, the participation goes beyond the one-hour window.

What the brand is doing year-round

Through its Good Coffee, Good Habits campaign, customers who bring reusable cups get up to P5 off any City Cafe or City Prima drink. The brand also runs the 7-Eleven City Cafe Farm to Cup initiative in Mindanao, which sources coffee from indigenous farmers of the MILALITTRA Farmers Agriculture Cooperative in Talakag, Bukidnon — supporting local livelihoods while promoting sustainable sourcing.

On the plastics front, 7-Eleven encourages the Bring Your Own Bag practice, with a dedicated push on Wednesdays to reduce single-use plastic across everyday purchases.

The brand has also opened a solar-powered store in Pampanga, marking a concrete step toward reducing the carbon footprint of its physical operations.

“7-Eleven emphasizes that convenience doesn’t have to cost environmental care,” the brand said. “Every action counts in protecting the Earth.”

Earth Hour 2026 takes place on March 28 at 8:30 PM.
