LOS ANGELES, United States (June 2026) — Finishing the main story is no longer the end of the adventure in Borderlands 4. The latest Version 1.8 update adds a massive batch of free endgame content, a new paid story expansion, and one of the most requested features from the community.
The update introduces Cross-Platform Saves, allowing players to continue their Vault Hunter journey across any platform where they own Borderlands 4. It also brings a challenging new raid, the return of Circle of Slaughter, and fresh content for players looking to keep chasing better loot.
A new mystery starring Zane
Players who purchase Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For can dive into a neon-noir arcade-inspired adventure centered on one question: who murdered Zane’s Digi-Clone backup?
The repeatable expansion includes a brand-new boss, two mini-bosses, and a collection of high-tier loot for players to farm.
Launching alongside the expansion is Vault Card 3, which lets players unlock 24 arcade-themed cosmetic rewards and four rerollable pieces of gear simply by playing the game.
Starting with this release, both the narrative expansion and Vault Card 3 can also be purchased separately.
A brutal new raid awaits
The biggest free addition in Version 1.8 is Takedown at Hadron Abyss, a new endgame raid available to everyone who has completed the main campaign.
Accessible from Raid Boards found in major hubs, the mission sends players into Hadron Abyss, a submerged research facility packed with mutated creatures and dangerous aquatic predators.
The raid scales enemy difficulty based on party size, making it suitable for solo players and full squads alike. Players looking for an even tougher challenge can enable Mayhem levels or Hardcore mode, where a single death ends the run.
At the end of the raid awaits the Child of Terramorphous, a powerful new boss with exclusive loot drops.
Rewards include one new Pearlescent weapon, Shark Bait, along with nine Legendary items spanning multiple weapon classes, shields, grenades and heavy weapons. Each current Vault Hunter also receives a new Class Mod, with another arriving when the next playable character launches later this year.
Circle of Slaughter makes a comeback
Fan-favorite survival mode Circle of Slaughter also returns as a completely free feature.
The mode challenges players to survive five increasingly difficult rounds, with each round containing three enemy waves. A powerful boss appears during every third wave, raising the stakes before players decide whether to cash out their rewards or continue risking everything for better loot.
Players eliminated during co-op matches are not completely out of the action. They can spectate teammates from a penalty box while triggering environmental effects ranging from confetti showers to explosive barrels. Teams can also revive fallen players immediately by defeating specially spawned Badass enemies.
The mode is designed to be endlessly replayable for players chasing Legendary and Pearlescent gear.
More content is already on the way
Gearbox Software also outlined the next wave of post-launch content.
Bounty Pack 4: Murders & Acquisitions arrives on July 30 alongside Version 1.9.
In early September, Story Pack 2 and Bounty Pack 5 will introduce Loveless the Hacker, a brand-new playable Vault Hunter.
Loveless is described as a former Anshin hacker turned assassin who fights alongside a digital virus capable of taking physical form as a deadly combat partner.
Players who own the Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition automatically receive all Bounty Packs and both Story Packs as part of their purchase. Deluxe Edition owners receive access to the Bounty Pack Bundle, while individual expansions remain available separately.
For more information and future updates, players can visit the official Borderlands 4 website and its social media channels.
Note: Philippine pricing for the new Bounty Pack, Story Pack, and individual downloadable content was not announced.
