A phone with literally zero screen bezels. TECNO has unveiled its Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone, a device with a 0mm border around the display that will premiere at IFA 2026 in Berlin this September. The official teaser video promises “a true 0mm screen bezel that pushes beyond visual boundaries.”
A 0mm bezel: how is that possible?
TECNO says it achieved the industry-first 0mm border through “advanced internal stacking, new screen packaging techniques, and structural re-engineering.” The company has not revealed the exact engineering details, but the result is a display that runs edge to edge with no visible borders around the screen. TECNO shared comparison images against the iPhone 17 Pro, and the difference in bezel thickness is immediately obvious.
The concept phone retains a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera, so the full-screen effect is achieved without hiding the front camera under the display.
A concept, but a promise for future phones
TECNO is explicit that this is a concept, not a shipping product. The device will be premiered at IFA 2026 Showstoppers, and there is no word yet on pricing or a launch timeline. But the company has bigger ambitions: it says the bezel-less design will form a “distinct design language” for its future phones, an “unmistakable identity that stands out.”
This is not TECNO’s first concept rodeo. The brand previously showcased the Phantom Ultimate G Fold tri-fold concept and the ultra-thin SPARK Slim and POVA Slim concepts. None of those made it to mass production, which raises the question of whether the 0mm bezel phone will be different.
Why bezel-less is hard
Shrinking bezels to zero is far harder than it looks. A smartphone display needs room for the internal circuitry, antenna lines, and structural strength that hold the device together. Manufacturing complexity and cost are why no major brand has shipped a truly bezel-less phone, even as bezels have slimmed to a few millimeters on flagships. TECNO’s approach reengineers the internal structure to reclaim that final millimeter of space.
Engadget notes the challenge: it remains to be seen whether a zero-bezel screen will be overly sensitive to grip and handling, since there is no frame to protect the display edges from accidental touches. That is one reason concepts like this often stay concepts.
What it means for the Philippines
TECNO is one of the biggest phone brands in the Philippine market through its parent Transsion, so this concept matters locally. If the 0mm bezel technology does reach production phones, budget and midrange buyers in the Philippines could get a flagship-style display edge at a fraction of the price of premium phones. The CAMON series has already pushed slim bezels aggressively, with the CAMON 19 claiming a 0.98mm side bezel.
For now, the TECNO Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone is a showcase of what the brand can engineer. Whether it becomes a real product will depend on cost, durability, and how well the edge-to-edge display survives real-world handling. IFA 2026 in September will tell us more.
