Correction note (Aug 18): this article has been updated to reflect confirmed details from the official India launch. Earlier figures for the battery and launch framing have been corrected.
TECNO brought its POVA gaming line to the next generation on August 18, 2026, launching the POVA 8 Pro 5G in India. The phone is built around a massive battery, a smooth 144Hz screen and TECNO’s signature mini display on the back, and it now carries a confirmed spec sheet and price. Here is the accurate picture.
Launched in India on August 18
The POVA 8 Pro 5G was announced in August 2026 and officially went on sale in India on August 18 via Flipkart, priced at about 49,999 rupees. It runs a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate on a 4nm process with an octa core CPU reaching 2.6GHz, and a dedicated P1 graphics chip so demanding games stay smooth. A Philippines launch has not yet been officially scheduled, so local pricing and availability remain unconfirmed.
The 144Hz screen and the back display
Up front is a 6.78 inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, dropping to 120, 90 or 60Hz to save power when full speed is unnecessary. The signature feature is the Alive Matrix display on the back, a dot matrix rear screen that shows notifications and other info, which is the phone’s biggest differentiator.

Camera, battery and durability
- A 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra wide lens, plus a 13MP front camera
- A 6,500mAh battery with fast wired charging for long gaming sessions
- An IP69K rating, unusual for the price class, for dust and water resistance
- Colors of Arc White, Graphite Black and Tundra Green
Where that leaves the Philippines
With the India launch confirmed at about 49,999 rupees, a Philippine rollout is expected given TECNO’s strong local presence, but nothing is official yet. When it lands, the POVA line’s run through the POVA Curve 2 and the POVA 7 in the Philippines shows how TECNO prices these gaming phones to undercut rivals. A 144Hz screen, a big battery and that mini back display make a strong case at whatever local price TECNO eventually sets.
