From research papers to the big screen
Adding a cinematic perspective, advocacy filmmaker and communication lecturer Seymour Sanchez shared how aspiring filmmakers can translate technical subjects into compelling short films. Sanchez walked participants through visual styles and narrative structures tailored for science documentaries.
Both speakers serve on the board of judges for the 10th Indie-Siyensya Film Festival, the premier science filmmaking competition in the Philippines organized by the DOST-Science Education Institute.
DOST-SEI Supervising Science Research Specialist Juan Antonio Tuazon also presented key details about the festival, encouraging young Pinoy creators to use film to promote science culture across the country.
