Fifth trip to the Philippines, first taste of Cebu
Rose landed at Mactan-Cebu International Airport to a warm reception ahead of a two-day tour dubbed “Rose Meets the Queen.” It is his fifth visit to the country, but the Queen City is brand-new territory for the 37-year-old. “This is a new spot for me,” Rose said. “Coming here, finding out what the island is all about, see what the people are about so I can’t wait to enjoy all of it.” On landing he added, “I already felt the warm welcome from the moment I arrived.”
Bamboo poles and a night of Filipino culture
At the Champion’s Circle Appreciation Dinner on Tuesday night at Shangri-La Mactan, the 2011 MVP joined a tinikling performance as part of the Kasadya Cultural Show, trading crossovers for the rhythmic footwork of the traditional folk dance. The evening also saw ten VIP winners go home with signed memorabilia and a photo on stage with Rose, who was accompanied by his family throughout the trip.
“I retired to have these exact experiences, to be intimate and show people who I really am,” Rose told guests. Both appearances sit under the ArenaPlus VIP Nights program, per event organizers.
