UST English Language Studies Society (UST ELSSOC) will be holding a community development activity, entitled “Wikang Yaman: Kwento at Kwenta”, a treasure language storytelling (TLS). It is one of its activities for UNESCO’s 2019 International Year of Indigenous Languages (2019 IYIL).
Storytellers share their stories in their “treasure languages” for 4 to 5 minutes before interpreting it into the wider known language of the audience (e.g., English). These storytellers are not professionals but everyday people we can meet anywhere – schools, churches, marketplaces, and the like.
The first of its kind in the Philippines, the show will be produced by Marianne M. Manalo and directed by Andrea Nicole P. Bello. It will be held on April 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Tanghalang Teresita Quirino, Benavides Building, University of Santo Tomas.
