Baby Bath Safety Tips with Iya and Neri

It is little wonder that moms dream about a giggling, cooing baby in a bubble-filled bath. Bathing baby has benefits beyond a basic cleanup. Bath time quickly becomes the highlight of the day for most moms because it is a chance to spend tech free bonding time with their little ones to spoil them with some TLC!

The first few times you give your baby a bath can be slippery business but with a little preparation and some parenting savvy, baby’s bath time can be a joyful, memorable experience for both mom and baby. In celebration of Baby Safety Month this September, supermoms Iya Villania-Arellano and Neri Naig-Miranda share their favorite bath tips and tricks to guide you safely through bath time.

Product choice is critical

Both Iya and Neri agree that the most important tip is to choose products specially formulated for babies. “Babies have more delicate skin than adults because their skin is still developing,” says Neri, “I prefer Babyflo because their products are formulated with babies’ needs in mind.”

Spot Clean as Needed

While a head-to-toe soak does not need to happen on the regular, it is important to keep baby’s skin folds clean and dry from saliva, dribbled milk and the like to avoid skin irritation. Neri recommends gently patting—not rubbing—their face and in between those cute, chubby rolls with a soft sheet of wipes when needed. “I like how Babyflo Baby Wipes has just the right size and dampness to clean up my baby,” says Neri, “I love that its cottony-soft sheets are hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested safe!” The wipes also serve as a nifty means for cleaning up baby items too. “I keep a pack of Babyflo Baby Wipes handy to clean up toys that they come into contact with.”

Soap away germs

Safety and hygiene are especially crucial today and frequent washing with soap is recommended to keep any infection at bay. Thus, Iya shares that moms should take care to read product ingredient labels before buying, watching out for harsh cleansers can irritate babies’ sensitive skin. “Babyflo Soap-Free Bath is a cleanser type of baby bath that is soap-free, fragrance-free, paraben-free and doesn’t clog pores. It’s safe enough for daily bath time!”

Apply a moisturizer

Directly after your baby’s bath, use a “locking-in” method to trap moisture back into your baby’s still damp skin. A gentle oil moisturizer is the perfect ally for babies’ skin as it functions like a shield to protect it from outside attacks. Iya likes gently rubbing Babyflo Baby Oil onto their skin. The added bonus? This extra step also acts as a calming baby massage. “Babyflo Baby Oil acts like a warm protective barrier on my baby’s skin. The light variant is not sticky which makes it perfect for everyday use.”

Add protective barrier

Chaffed skin often leads to diaper rash. Neri applies BabyFlo Petroleum Jelly for a protective barrier to keep out wetness and prevent the diaper from irritating her baby’s bottom. “When the skin is slightly chapped, it soothes the redness and restores softness.”
