MANILA, Philippines (Aug. 2026) – Keeping digital savings safe from evolving online scams just got easier for Pinoy account holders. EastWest has introduced Banking Made Safer, a security suite designed to give customers control over their funds while keeping everyday banking simple.

At the heart of the security suite is EasyLock, a self-service feature available on the EasyWay app for personal accounts and EasyBiz app for corporate accounts. Through EasyLock, users can set aside a portion of their bank balance and lock it from digital transfers. The remaining money stays open for daily expenses, and the locked amount can be adjusted or released whenever needed.

Extra layers against fraud

Beyond initial app controls, EastWest is rolling out additional tools to tackle account breaches and disputed transactions. These include Emergency Shield, which instantly freezes digital access and outgoing transfers if an account seems compromised.

Another safeguard is the Transaction Pause Period, which temporarily limits digital transfers right after key account details are updated. If a suspicious transfer occurs, Temporary Holding of Funds keeps disputed amounts on hold while the bank investigates.

Aligned with national safety rules

These security updates align with Republic Act No. 12010, also known as the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act, alongside regulations set by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

EastWest Chief Executive Officer Jerry Ngo shared that financial scams are growing more sophisticated, making safety a top priority alongside convenience. He explained that tools like EasyLock let customers take an active role in guarding their hard-earned money without complicating their daily banking routine.

Account holders can turn on EasyLock through the EasyWay or EasyBiz apps starting today.
