PASIG CITY, Philippines – GetGadget Shop is the name of Powercom’s latest project, an online gadget store that aims to build a solid relationship with its customers. GetGadget Shop is headquartered at the Antel Building in Ortigas, where Powercom also holds office.
At a media brunch held earlier this month, Cyrus Cruz from GetGadget Shop explained to the media that they want to establish and maintain good relations with their customer base.
Cyrus wants GetGadget Shop to be a trusted online retailer for technology products – something that many online sellers – especially individual sellers without a physical business location – struggle to establish.
Stand-out lifestyle product shots a la Everyday Carry
Unlike many online stores that use stock product photos, GetGadget Shop uses unique, professionally styled photos to showcase its products. Drawing inspiration from Everyday Carry, the product gallery look like a Pinterest board.
The quality of the lifestyle shots create added visual interest and showcases the effort and dedication of the GetGadget Shop team.
3-step checkout and competitive pricing
Cruz explained that GetGadget Shop was designed to take only 3 steps from the product page to checkout, echoing Amazon’s design philosophy for its storefront.
GetGadget Shop is also competitively priced. To see just how competitive they are, we created a matrix comparing GetGadget Shop’s prices against the cheapest, most trusted online stores such as Kim Store, Widget City, and Lazada.
GetGadget Shop vs Kim Store vs Widget City vs Lazada
We took the prices of some of the hottest smartphones and tablets and compared GetGadget Shop against reputable, low cost online gadget stores.

Warranty, shipping, and payment
All items purchased at GetGadget Shop come with 1 year service warranty and free shipping within Metro Manila.
GetGadget Shop currently only accepts payment in two modes: bank deposit and cash-on-delivery (COD).
Minor bugs and display issues
We did experience some minor issues with the site. For instance, the signup page requires a minimum of two characters for the Last Name field, so Chinese names with only two characters will automatically fail validation.
To resolve this, simply add an extra character in the last name field. Since there are no restrictions, we were able to use an underscore character “_” to pass the minimum character requirement.
There are also minor display issues, such as overlapping in some areas of the website.
We really like that the GetGadget Shop is both minimal and responsive. The content flows to accommodate the size of the viewport window, which is extremely important when surfing on a mobile device.
Being a startup the inventory is fairly limited to a few of the best-selling products from Apple, Samsung, Sony, ASUS, and Go Pro. Most of the brands under the Tablets and Accessories section display a “Coming Soon” page. We expect this grow as time goes by, though.
Cyrus told ASTIG.PH that they plan to include locally-crafted products in their accessories section. We got a sample of a leather bag that could fit a laptop. Perhaps it will appear in the accessories section soon.
Overall Kim Store comes out the cheapest with 17 wins, followed closely by GetGadget Shop with 14. Lazada is also impressive with 10 wins. Do note that Lazada is currently holding 3-day sale, so the prices may change after the event.
Not too shabby for startup. We look forward to seeing more competitively-priced products from GoGadget Shop!
