Jonathan Kuminga is leaving the Golden State Warriors’ orbit for Minnesota, agreeing to a surprise two-year, $12.4 million deal with the Timberwolves after choosing them over the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN reported.

A long road to Minnesota
Kuminga became an unrestricted free agent when the Atlanta Hawks declined his $24.3 million club option in June. He spent four and a half seasons with the Warriors before being traded to Atlanta in February. The Hawks and Lakers tried to work out a sign-and-trade, but the deal fell through.
